Hi, I'm Noah Yacowar.

Hi, I’m Noah - a Mechatronics Engineering student who loves designing and building things that work well and feel great to use. I’m all about making projects that are efficient, affordable, and thoughtfully designed.

Information About me

For me, engineering is as much about design as it is about function. I enjoy creating projects that balance technical problem-solving with a clean, simple experience. Whether I’m coding, prototyping hardware, or sketching ideas, I focus on keeping things intuitive, efficient, and accessible.

My Timeline

May 2025 – August 2025

Researcher - Haas Lab, University of Waterloo

Worked on masonry-focused research, developing prototypes to improve jobsite safety and efficiency. Designed a Unity + custom-hardware training suite with QR enrollment, sensor pairing, real-time ergonomics, and motion capture tracker integration.

September 2024 – December 2024

Software Developer - Exo Insights Corp.

Developing Android (Unity + Java) and desktop (PySide) applications to capture and stream live worker data (audio, heart rate, IMU motion). Built two-way audio communication, heart rate monitoring, and a general messaging system to support worker safety and training scenarios.

January 2024 - April 2024

System QA - Virtek Vision International Inc.

Built the test automation infrastructure for the company's software in a small development team from scratch.

September 2023 - December 2023

Electrical Team Member - Waterloo Rocketry

Beginning my journey as a member of the University of Waterloo's electrical team, working on PCB architectures.

July 2023 - December 2023

Computer Vision Team Member - Waterloo Aerial Robotics Group

Worked on various computer vision aspects of a drone currently being developed for future competitions.

May 2023 - August 2023

Video Game Developer - Defence Research Development Canada

Developed a VR test-bed environment in Unity for research on soldiers' interactions with HUD elements.

June 2022 - August 2022

Equestrian Instructor - Well Dressed Equestrian

Watched over young children, giving them horse-riding lessons. Also responsible for horses.

April 2020 - June 2022

Leading Member of CS club - Personal venture

Led a group that averaged 7 students and two other instructors; from the basics of programming in OOP, to data sorting and game dev.
